Thursday 17th May - Eyesight Improver

I read the R.H.S. page on carrots with a sinking heart. We have done everything possible to attract the dreaded carrot fly.
1. Planted early May to attract 1st generation.
2. Have not erected a 2ft barrier.
3. Did not pick resistant carrots.

To make matters worse, Spouse mistook an OAP for me yesterday (I am sure it was due to my Miss Ellie hairdo). He needs to eat some carrots.

I think you’re missing a trick with the carrot fly ...

If you really want to attract them shouldn’t you have a sign? ‘Bed & Breakfast – Rooms Available, Carrot Lovers Welcome!’

Ha ha ha ...

YAY for carrots!

I truly like your blog. It makes me giggle endlessly each and every time (and I wish I had your talent!).

Ohh err, thank you very much! I'm not sure about talent though as we STILL haven't eaten anything home grown (although the flea beetles have) and every other plot looks ready to harvest...

Too bad about the flea beetles... No carrots here, but hoping for some Summer ones. (Seed is planted; cross fingers...)

Patience, you will have an abundance of veggies coming your way shortly! (Judging by all your work to date!)

My carrots are safe, but of course that's because they're still in the seed packet! Do you think runner beans & other pole beans will be happy climbing on metal fencing? I'm trying to determine where the beans will go since they'll need a structure. See the picture on my page, if you have a chance. I planned to use poles but thought I'd use the fencing sections I already had. Love visiting your garden & blog!

You can rest easy in the knowledge that you helped a lot of people not to make that same mistake. One blog posting and a link has given me everything I need for success this year ! Many Thanks.
