Thursday 9th November - Kale Nero di Toscano

The Kale Nero di Toscano is growing really well and once all the whitefly are washed off, Spouse cooks it up with garlic.

In parts of north west Germany they have "Grünkohlfahrt" where folk will visit a country inn to consume large quantities of kale, sausage and schnapps. I like the sound of that.

When did you plant the kale? I understand it is a capable winter crop but will have to put it on the planting calendar for next year.

I've made the schnapps - missing the rest though lol

I'd love to have a go at making scnapps - is it hard? The kale was planted in late April and is supposed to improve after the frosts. Every time we cut it, new leaves appear, it is a really good value veg.

I made the Rhubarb Schnapps according to Lottie's recipe earlier in the year...except I think I went a bit overboard on the sugar (No scales, so I guessed) and it turned out more like rhubarb syrup...no one I foisted it upon would finish their glass...

The fault was entirely mine of course and not the recipe!
