Thursday 6th April - Moveable Paths

Not only do we have ponds on Allotment 21 but 'moveable paths'. This technique, devised on the weekend is to lay weed suppressing fabric where you want your path to be, shovel barrow-loads of bark chippings (free on site) on top and tread it all down. When you realise it is in completely the wrong place, have two people at either end lift each corner of the fabric making a long, thin hammock for the mulch, shuffle over to the correct spot and re-lay it. Tread down once more and fork over previous path before anyone notices.

Allotment 21 now looking very lovely - all we have to do now is grow some veg, gulp...

Am having same fears...mine looks nice and tidy, but not very productive yet. Why won't Mother Nature just GET ON WITH IT!

Ps. Think I have fixed my video link. Was a format problem it seems. Thanks for the heads-up.

Who deleted a comment and how do they do it? I often hit 'publish' before noticing all my spelling mistakes and would love to know.

Twas me that deleted the comment, on account of all the appalling typos in it.

If you look at my comments here, you'll notice a "trash can" icon on them. Either you, as blog owner, or me as author can click on this and remove it as far as I can tell.... It's soemthing to do with your comment settings in blogger.

This solves my problem as I cannot settle on a layout plan. Flexibiliy is good. 'course there is lots of grass to remove first. Is your bean row running north & south, or east & west (or none of the above)?

The plot faces roughly south so the beans will be east - west. Next weekend we are going to have a bash at a sweetpea arch over the path - all getting very girlie!

Tried to post here yesterday, but for some reason I couldn't (or so I think!)...

Oooh and awe! A sweet pea arch? Now that's going to be lovely...
